Week 2 l 18th Nov
Method of Translating
Based on the previous experiments, I decided to develop the experiment that I translated it’s contents with 3d capturing system.

In original context, Nix(one of the moon of Pluto) wobbles unexpectedly influenced by the shifting gravitational field generated by Pluto and Charon.
Since this 3d scanning application can’t capture the small things well, it could be captured as a shape only when I hold it while capturing. So influenced by the environment between my hand and background, the object can’t captured just as it is but captured as an unexpectable output.
My finding :
‘Relationship between the object and its environment, and something unexpected outcome derived from it.’
My finding here was the relationship between the object and its environment, and something unexpected outcome derived from it.
Following the last feedback, what I wanted to focus on was that unexpectable shape or object can be created by the system of ‘relationship’. And finding the rhythm inside of that.
In other word, this process was about translating the context by changing its language.Keep the original context about ‘reationship between two of them but changing the language how to express the context.
Move on : Capturing 9 different images of one object
To start, I captured the same stone with same posture in a same position nine times.
The original image is a set of 9 arranged images of various angle of Nix, which depicting one object(Nix). But in this case, since the output of 3d capturing always changes, and the shapes are also unexpectable, I thought these nine different captured images could be a translated image set. In other words, these set of captured images are also expressing one obejct.

And since there 9 object are depicting one object(a stone), I gathered them and multiplied to make as a one shape.
After trying several ways to make them just like one object, I finally got into this one unexpected cluster of images.
Finding rhythm on the object : rhythm from the code
After finding the unexpected new object, I exported nine obejcts to DAE file format.
DAE file is 3d file format which contains movement, ligging, pose data, and animation data.
When I open the DAE(3D) files in Chrome, it show’s the 3d object as code. I captured the part of the Mesh code. I thought that this organized mesh data shows a kind of rhythm and flow of how the new object have unexpected feature.
Compared to Nix, which has an unexpectable movement, this new object has an unexpectable shape. And the original image set shows unexpectable movement of Nix with nine different images, while the new clustered object present unexpectable shape. However, still both of them has same context that they’re influenced by the relationship between other object and their environment. The language how their expressing the concept changed but the context maintained.

To make the rhythm I found from the nine different mesh datas, I made these code captured images to a sequence layer.
Final Output :
Two different findings with 3D captured images and a sequence of mesh data eventually showing one original object in different ways. Since they’re expressing the notion of relationship and unexpected feature, I thought gathering these outputs also can present both of the original Nix images and the sentence “Hubble has provided a new view of Pluto and its moons revealing a cosmic dance with a chaotic rhythm”. So I combined two of them in a one screen.
Feedback
> What is working :
. The intersection part of the newly made 3D object seems like a cure ‘moon(Nix)’.
. The stone moon was well remade in unexpected way.
. 3D Captured images and newly made 3D images are visually looks good.
. The formation of images with data flow(code of mesh data) looks good.
. Since the content of code data is about ‘mesh’, it seems it’s working.
> What is not working :
. The immediate connection between the rhythm and the code images seems a bit weak.
. Rhythm found on the code itself seems doesn’t make sense.
. The rhythm I found with the code data images seems not like an ‘unexpected’ rhythm. It seems like it has its systematic rhythm.
. It’s hard to understand.
> To develop this further/in future projects:
. How about finding other movement data to combine with the object? For example, the orbit data of different planets or totally different movements such as ballet.
. Still, the main idea of this project is movement and rhythm, bringing unexpected movements from completely different context will be useful.
. How about going back to the first quote? Gathering 3D data and the chaotic rhythm I found as a sentence(based on the first quote) would be interesting.
> My Reflection :
. Since the amount of feedback at the tutorial group contained the curiosity and question if the image of mesh data works as an unexpected/chaotic rhythm or not, I should think about whether it works well more deeply and how it could be worked in a more clear way.
. The feedback that goes back to the first quote is also interesting so that I would like to go further with the experiment.
. Finding unexpected movements in various fields will be helpful to find another unexpected outcome and to find an intimate link between the object and movement. Also, It seems to go further to the unexpected process of the project.
