Day 1 ll Sep 28th
Method of Cataloguing
The set of English Crime and Execution broadsides
Following the description on the website, this collection of nearly 600 broadsides highlights crime and capital punishment, primarily in Enland, as seen through the popular press in the 18th and 19th century.

Experiement I :
To look throught the collection precisely, at first, I focused on the image. 48 pieces of a hundred collection were depicting the scene of the criminals executed. 23 of them were presenting the scene of how the crimes were occured, and remaining 14 pieces are describing the criminals or victims.

The interesting point I found while categorising based on the theme of the picture was that the picture of people executed does not seem like they are depicted as it was. It seems more like describing the bias and stereotype of how people are executed. Also, this looks like they are alarming people not to commit a crime by presenting the cruel scene. For those reasons, I traced the angle of how the criminals were depicted when they were executed.

Experiement II :
Based on the same findings, I was focused on the way how they show the execution on the paper. Even these are not good news, unlike contemporary society, they presented the issue related to the execution by allocating a large portion of the page. I marked where the headline was located with black boxes and the illustration of criminals or executed scenes with blue boxes.

Experiement III :
Also, based on the same findings, I extracted the headline font of each issue. Similar points between the components were that the headlines were used with very fancy types even all of these issues were referring the crimes and execution.

Feedback
> To develop :
. Need to recategorize the information of this set itself.
. The points I found during the categorizing is interesting, but all information should come from the information inside of the set.
