Day 2 ll 14th October
Canal(Railway) / Railway(Canal)
Continuing with the ‘Method TWO’
I chose Method TWO which is drawn with a Venn Diagram.
Following the discussion on the tutor group, I rode the train for several times again to observe people’s movement and what they do on the train.
The movement I could catch was :
. sitting on the seat and looking on their smartphone
. sitting on the seat and looking outside of the window
. sitting on the seat and observing other passengers
. sitting on the seat and reading their book
. sitting on the seat and using their laptop
. sitting on the seat and doing nothing
. sitting on the seat and chatting with their friends
. standing and chatting with their friends
. standing and gazing outside of the window
. getting in to the rhythm with one’s feet
Just like the image below.

Further process :
After tracing the pose of people, I started to trace the movement with drawing the outline of some people based on the video. 125 pages per a person was drawn and it was in 12 frames per a second. By this process I could catch the tiny movements of people in the train, for example, shaking their feet, moving their legs, rotating their head to observe other people, and moving their hands or body when they’re chatting.

Movements in Non-movement Area
However, It was still hard to observe other residents inside the building. For those reason, I recorded myself between 2-4pm which was the time I usually went to ride the train to observe people. And the image below, it’s the time record I took the video/picture at the train.

When all the things gathered :
I gathered all of them(traced images and videos, diary of a day between 2-4pm, and the video I took both on the train and at my room) on Venn Diagram to classify and see with more clearance.
Feedback
> The case of movement(video) of the people in the train is more needed.
> There are also Movement & Non-movement idea in different field. For example, the Theory of Relativity, the way we take movies(To express weightlessness, a photographing space is created, and a person moves the space while staying still), as <Interstellar>(2014). The method of using intestinal exposure when filming is also a concept related to movement and non-movement as it contains static cameras and moving subjects.
> This idea might be too general, not a specific idea of this place
